Networking, reunions and bonding – that was on the agenda at the “Little Green Rooftop Party” that LPS held for its clients in Berlin on the roof of the ewerk, a former transformer station in Berlin.
The roughly 50 invited guests – among them clients, staff and friends – enjoyed the fabulous evening and the fantastic view. To top things off there were delicacies such as finger food and cocktails prepared by Culinary Director Thomas Pleinert and his team. And naturally everything green and sustainable.
The guests were delighted, had a lively exchange of views and forged plans for the future. The desire for holding these kinds of live events was enormous and the premium caterer demonstrated that such live events functioned quite well when necessary hygiene standards are taken into account.
Half a century of SAP, and LPS Event Catering was allowed to take over the gastronomic orchestration of this special company anniversary in Walldorf – the headquarters of the software group.
LPS designed a lovely food concept for the jubilee event entitled “SAP’s 50 Years Headquarters Celebration” that was thought out down to the tiniest detail. Oriented on the company’s long-standing tradition, the entire menu was aligned in conjunction with decades: the 70s/80s, the 90s/2000s and 10s/20s. Then the spacious event area was partitioned into suitably matching theme sectors. Which meant there was something delicious to discover on every corner: here a fantastic food station with trendy bowls; there an extremely popular buffet with marvellous grilled specialities, and a modern bar with luscious refreshments that the guests eagerly enjoyed with weather at summertime temperatures.
On the culinary side, LPS pampered a total of 35,000 members of staff at SAP on two event days and evenings. The preliminary planning was correspondingly professional and precise, and the team from LPS was deployed excellently on location, too. Around 280 personnel for bar and service, over 200 cooks, and roughly 50 logistics staff were on assignment from morning until night to make the company anniversary one-of-a-kind for everyone.
“A thoroughly enjoyable event. Our catering pros have the experience and the passion to steward events on this scale with perfection while staging each one individually,” is how LPS Event Catering Managing Director Rüdiger Bähr commented on his team’s performance.
The UN Climate Change Conference in Bonn was a tremendous challenge that we at LPS mastered with flying colours.
This entailed that the cooking went on for seven days from early in the morning till late at night to cater for thousands of visitors at the climate change conference. They included upper-echelon VIPs such as Al Gore, the US politician and environmental protectionist, Arnold Schwarzenegger, former US politician, Emmanuel Macron, the president of France, as well as Barbara Hendricks, the German federal minister for the environment, nature conservation and nuclear safety at the time.
There was a special selection on offer for VIP hospitality. Al Gore, for example, came to the conference on a clear-cut mission: “We’ll try to make progress.” To him, progress in the matter of the climate stood and still stands first and foremost. His preference for food was appropriate, and he was served a vegan dish: a couscous fritter with artichoke ragout.
The other visitors at the conference – around 4,000 daily in the Bonn Zone in the Rheinaue district alone – equally enjoyed the predominantly vegetarian meals.
The greatest possible climate neutrality was given top priority for the global climate change conference. So the premium caterer consequently banked on regional products, at least half of which were organic. “We obtain everything from a maximum 100-kilometre radius around Bonn,” reported Lars Schmidt, Project Manager at LPS. In addition, all of the products had been audited for sustainability. The straws were compostable, the paper cups FSC certified, and the food was served on “bio” dishware. Even the napkins carried an ecolabel.
